The European Union on Wednesday has added 160 oligarchs and Russian lawmakers to the list of sanctions. Sanctions target crypto-Ass and the marine sector. These measures are the continuation of the bloc's penalties on Moscow, which began the invasion of Ukraine on 24 February.
European bloc also said three Belarusan banks will leave the SW message system IFT, due to Minsk's support for the Kremlin attack on Ukraine.
“We are further tightening sanctions in response to Russia's military aggression against Ukriana”, European Commission President Ursula von der Leenen said.
In the EU statement, 146 members of the Russian Parliament's Supreme Chamber and 14 oligarchs linked to the Kremlin and their family members have been put on the asset freeze list and restrictions on the movement.
Among those sanctioned is billionaire Andrey Melnicenco, director of the Aeroflower Flight Company, Mikhail Poloboyarnov and Dmitry Pumpyansky, who owns gas pipelines.
Also sanctioned are billionaire Dmitry Mazepin and his son Nikita, who is driving in Forum 1 and who recently left his team, Haas.
The EU has also sanctioned Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's son-in-law, Alexander Vinochrov.
The European bloc's sanctions have also imposed restrictions on cryptovatulus in order to sanction tou can't use them to avoid sanctions.
The EU has warned it will impose additional sanctions unless Moscow ends the war in Ukraine.
In addition to a series of measures taken by the EU, the United States has imposed severe sanctions on Russia, including the ban on Russian gas, oil and energy imports. /rel
