Commission Chairman Beke Berisha has asked about implementing the Weapons Law.
It's going to take gun permits, but I have a scandal here to sell gun permits. The case occurred in 2019, what can you tell us about this”, Berisha asked.
Public Security Department Director Mensur Hoti said there has been a process of legalising weapons.
We actually completed a document concept and working groups. Contention is no obstacle to law enforcement. We think that during work on drafting we will add other parts to changes in the EU's regulation. The law is applicable. We are pleased with the implementation of the Weapons Law. ... ] Regarding the scandal, we don't consider the ministry dealing with this part. Currently for that criminal act we have had a process of”, he said.
Furthermore, LVV member Mefail Bajcinovci has asked what the number of weapons citizens have on UNMIK's leave is.
There are 20 thousand such weapons, which are on UNMIK leave. They are not illegal weapons but are not subject to procedures under the New Law. There are 37 thousand that are on leave under the new Law”, Mensur Hoti has responded.
Hoti also said that during the year about a thousand weapons are confiscated.
And LVV member Enver Dugolli said the findings are disturbing for failing to implement the Law on Critical Infrastructure.
I agree with the findings, it's reality. The law was adopted because we considered it important. Besides having passed the law, the law envisions entering into force a year after the adoption and we haven't arrived ...] this week we have a movement and it will start with some internal procedures to recruit the staff for the Critical Infrastructure Division”, he said.
According to him, the law envisions four officials, but waits until the end of the year to recruit staff.
