Russia is not targeting the best interests of these states. Your economies are linked to Europe. The biggest trade partners and investors are in the European Union. Your future is in Europe, as European Union member states”, Escobar said according to a statement published by the American Embassy in Belgrade.
There is still much work to be done in the Western Balkans. Work to integrate the region economically. Work to find compromises and sustainable solutions to unresolved border issues. Let us use this crisis to ensure future generations in the Western Balkans live in fully integrated states in the European Union and in a free and peaceful Europe.
Escobar has stressed that the United States wants to be partners of this region in these efforts.
“We must use this example to double efforts to reach compromise agreements between Kosovo and Serbia and stop actions that threaten stability and progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
The American official has said Russia must be held responsible and that the West should help Ukraine fight Russian invasion before atrocities increase and that Europe will be destabilised even more.
“Allied co-ordinated actions and partners have increased pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian forces are slowing down the invasion and causing major losses to Russian forces. Our sanctions have separated Russia from the global financial system, and the Russian economy will start destroying”.
Moscow's attack on Ukraine has started in the early hours of February 24th.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered <x0 special operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The Kremlin's action has stirred anger and has been condemned in many parts of the world.
The United States and its allies have responded with severe sanctions against Moscow.
