A statement by Albin Kurt for reciprocity with Serbia, while aimed at the prime minister's chair on the eve of the February elections, where many polls placed the first one, had become viral, and continues to be today.
In a Kosovo television debate, Kurti would promise to establish reciprocity with Serbia, stating it was a decision he predicted to make.on a matter of days, or weeks and no months.
“Reciprocity is deeper than plan because it is principle. So there's a normable dimension and it is driven by the concept of equality, it's a healthy principle of international relations. Reciprocity is the most common thing in a country. It's a matter of days or weeks, no months.. It's one of the things that you're going to do”, Kurty said, writes Periscope.
After Kurt's victory over 50% in the February 14th elections, reciprocity was not decided, and it continues not even today.
The prime minister's rationale for failing to keep this electoral promise is that once reciprocity is established, it must be decided in such a way that it does not fail again. But when it is decided, it seems no one knows even the prime minister himself.
That reciprocity (whenever it is said to be decided) should be firmly established, says Kurti's subordinate, Mrs. Minister Roseta Hajdari, whenever asked by journalists about the issue of setting reciprocity.
Kosovo is not well represented (in regional initiatives), Kosovo often has challenges knowing that we have a neighbouring state that always hinders the signing of the Republic of Kosovo. But we together, with our cooperation, will work to be constructive with all neighboring states despite our sorrows, especially with one of the neighboring states that is key. I have not wanted to bring immediate reciprocity measures with no neighbouring state, I am interested in solving problems through regional mechanisms that we now have, starting in CEFTA, from the Council of Europe and the Regional Council for Co-operation and other mechanisms that can help us to develop and address all challenges in the regional aspect”, Hajdari said.
Her last response, as Periscope delivered long ago, was that when reciprocity is established, it will be well established.
The complexity of establishing reciprocity with Serbia, whether in terms of logistics organisation or in terms of political action, we can understand. But what is not understood in this case is the ease of Prime Minister Kurti's promising precise and detailed actions at the time of electoral campaigns.
Similar to promises, it was in earlier years, when it promised to cut the prices of food products, give centicent promises as well as when talking about the expensive electricity citizens pay. /Periscopi
