Earlier we reported that Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron of France had spoken by telephone for about two hours.
In the meantime, find out the details of what was said by Paris and Moscow.
The French Presidential Palace, Elysée, has indicated that Macron had asked Putin to end the Russian attack and ensure the safety of Ukraine's nuclear sites after the grant caused a fire at the site of the Zaporizha nuclear plant.
While Putin told Macron that Russia does not seek to attack nuclear plants.
Putin also told Makron that Russia will achieve its goals through “negotiation or war”, the French presidency says.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin says Putin blamed Ukrainians for the nuclear power plant incident.
Putin was quoted as saying Macroni had been a <x0-provocation” organised by the Ukrainian “radicals”. Ukraine, meanwhile, has blamed Russian forces for the bombing.
Kremlin added that Russian and Ukrainian personnel were jointly guarding the country and that radiation levels were “abnormal”.
Putin also said that Saturday's efforts to evacuate civilians from the southern cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha had failed because Ukrainian <x0-nationalists” refused to let people leave and used temporary ceasefires only to reinforce and strengthen themselves.
Ukraine said Russian bombings had continued during the ceasefires Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier this day, the Red Cross said both sides had failed to agree on the details of how evacuations would function.
