Signal sources have indicated that among the police officials identified as suspected of corruption are the two commanders of border points that were subject to investigation.
Lt. Ramiz Ahmeti, commander of the Qafe Prushi border crossing and Lieutenant Xavit Lokaj from Gjakova, as commander of the Qafe Morina border crossing, the western region of the Gjakova border, are suspected to have committed criminal acts “the misuse of the official task” and “bribery”.
In addition to police officials, at least two customs officials, who for a period of time have served at the Qafe Morina border points and Prush's Qafa, will be in handcuffs.
Police and customs officials allegedly for months have enabled dozens of Albanian and Kosovars to cross the border unfairly, for which they have accepted as bribery considerable amounts of money.
The investigation conducted by the IPK under the supervision of Kosovo's Special Prosecutor is one of the most serious hits of corruption within the Kosovo Police since the establishment of this institution.
