China's president seeks content in Ukraine

China's President Xi Jinping described the situation in Ukraine as disturbing and called for “maximum restraint”. Xi made comments during a virtual meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reports Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
Xi said the priority should be to prevent out of control of the situation in Ukraine, and added that all three countries should support peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
China and Russia currently enjoy close diplomatic relations.
Beijing has not condemned the Russian attack against Ukraine, but has expressed “regret” for it.
In a United Nations Security Council vote condemning the invasion of Ukraine, China has abstained.
For today's virtual meeting, France and Germany have not yet commented.
On Monday, even European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has talked to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the second time since the beginning of Ukraine's Russian occupation on February 24th.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin has given the order for the invasion, as he has not received assurances from NATO that he will no longer expand eastward.
The United Nations said Tuesday that the number of war displaced people in Ukraine has exceeded two million.
