Change for the “Golden Top”

The reduction of the number of voters was among the published changes in order to simplify the process.

The weekly magazine “France Football” has started to donate this football award since 1956, while footballing since 2018. However, both competitions were not awarded in 2020 due to pandemic.

“There will not be between January and December”, wrote magazines in “Twitter”.

“Balon d'Orʹ will be given on the basis of the classic soccer season, from August to July”, said in the announcement.

Paris star Saint-Germainin and Argentina Leonel Messi won this award for the last time and was seventh in a career, while Barcelona's Alexia Putellas and Spain's repressor became the third women's winner in competition in 2021. Messie received more votes than Bayern Munich and Poland's attacker, Robert Leandowski.

These changes mean that the price of the “Golden Cup” will include the 2021/22 season, which ends with the European Championship in June. The upcoming ceremony will be held in October.

The World Cup in Qatar, which starts on December 21st and ends on December 18th, will not be considered this year, but will play a role in awarding the next edition.

Out of 170 voters in male competition, the number will be reduced to 100, while 50 voters will be for women's competitiveness.

The magazine also made clear the criterion for the prize. It will first be based on individual, team presentations and then on “phair-play”.
