US President Joe Biden said on Thursday there is no “any clear evidence” that Vladimir Putin is reducing military operations around Kiev and suggested that the Russian president may have ordered the dismissal of some of his advisers or placed in house arrest.
Beden told reporters that “has some indexing” that Putin has taken those steps against some of his advisers, but according to him there is no solid evidence of that.
The White House published on Wednesday unsavory intelligence findings that Putin is being misinterpreted by his advisers how badly the Russian military is performing.
The president made the comments after formally announcing that the US would release 1 million barrels of oil a day from the country's strategic oil reserves, hoping to cut the price of derivatives.
Beden also reiterated that his administration remains sceptical that Russia would reduce operations about Kiev, as Moscow announced earlier this week.
Russian forces continued to bomb Kiev's suburbs on Thursday, two days after the Kremlin announced it would significantly reduce operations near the capital and the northern town of Chernihivi.
