The demonstrations seem to have been peaceful, but images in social media show Russian forces arresting people and disseminating crowds in places like Enerhodar.
Crowds of protesters gathered in the city after Mayor Dmytro Orlov claimed Russian troops had kidnapped his first deputy, Ivan Samoydyuk, writes the BBC.
“We don't know what state he's in”, Orlov said in Telegram. “He hasn't been in contact since yesterday”.
A video allegedly taken in another town, Berdyansk, shows people arrested and beaten by Russian forces.
In Berdyansk, people went on a peaceful protest against Russians they beat to sea and became them. Shots were also heard in the air.
