During the inspection process, AIP inspectors have found that most controllers have applied surveillance with cameras contrary to the Law on Protection of Personal Data, failing to meet the pre-lawed criteria.
In all cases where the controller was found installed camera surveillance systems contrary to legal provisions, The AIP has ruled on the temporary ban on processing personal data through camera surveillance and destruction of data collected through this system to the date of the decision's accession. Camera surveillance can begin after meeting criteria according to the provisions of the Law for the Protection of Personal Data. In any case, when the same businesses install the camera surveillance system, without meeting the legal criteria, sanctions will be taken against them, respectively, fine will be pronounced.
In this case, AIP calls on all controllers (public and private) who apply camera surveillance to do so according to Law criteria No. 06/L-082 for the Protection of Personal Data. / P ERISCOPIA
