After the end of the war in June 1999, the UN mission is installed in Kosovo, which allowed the creation of parallel Serb structures in Kosovo and affected Kosovo's economy.
So on March 17, 2004, riots began that were later very much talked about as the March “Troubles”.
These riots began after two Albanian children in the northern part of Mitrovica drowned in the Iber River. Several children who survived in the late hours that night showed in front of the cameras that they were chased by Serbs and that two children had lost their lives on the river.
During these riots, 19 people were killed, of whom there were 12 Albanians.
