January was the month with mostly missile tests ever conducted by North Korea, and this month ended with Sunday's launch of the high-range ballistic missile action, Hasang-12. These tests are being viewed as genus ' attempt to show that there are reliable missile systems that can carry nuclear heads.

In January, tests began with the release of a new “personic missile” and continued testing long-range floating missiles and ballistic missiles with short-range action, launched by airports and trains. Through these tests, North Korea told of the rapid expansion of the nuclear arsenal and the advance of nuclear weapons as the negotiations on disunlearim have stalled.

Since 2017, North Korea had not tested interc mounting ballistics or nuclear weapons, but the launch of Hasong-12 may signal that such tests can be returned very soon, officials in South Korea and the United States have said.

Here you can learn what kind of weapons North Korea tested during January:

On January 5th, North Korea said it had tested a new type of “hypersonic missile”. The same claim was made on January 11th, as the northeastern leader, Kin Jong Un was reported to have participated in Test two.

hypersonic weapons usually fly to targets lower than ballistic missiles and can reach speeds of up to five times the speed of sound or about 200 miles [6,200 km] per hour.

Despite their name, analysts say the main feature of hypersonic weapons is not their speed, but their maneuvering, which may allow them to avoid missile defence systems.

South Korean officials questioned North claims on missile capabilities after the first test, but the second test seems to have shown better performance.

Analysts said that if European were to perfect such weapons, it would present a major improvement in their striking power against nearby opponents.

On January 14th, North Korea launched a series of short-range ballistic missiles from a train near the northern border with China. The northeastern state media said this test was a drill aimed at boosting the proximity of troops operating the missiles.

Despite the limited rail network and often unreliable, mobile railway missiles are a relatively free and efficient option to improve the survival of northeastern nuclear forces, making it difficult for enemies to discover and destroy missiles before they are launched, analysts said.

Short-range action rockets seem to be of the KN-23 kind, which for the first time were tested in May 2019. These kinds of rocket missiles are designed to avoid missile defence systems, as they fly into a lower trajectory, experts said.

North Korea then launched a series of KN-23 missiles from a mobile vehicle used for launching missiles.

Tests confirmed “explosive power” of the conventional missile head, state media said, while analysts said the missiles flew to the lowest trajectory so far.

The North Hour also launched two short-range action rockets during a rare test conducted by the airport at Pyongyang on January 17.

According to state media, the two “rockets accurately targeted” on an island on the eastern coast.

Analysts said the missiles appeared to be of the KN-24 kind, which for the last time had been tested in March 2020. According to analysts, it seems that North Korea has mass-produced these kinds of missiles and deployed them with military units.

KN-24 missiles resemble the American Army Tactical Missile System (MGM-140 ATACMS), and like the KN-23 missiles, are designed to avoid missile defence systems, as such missiles fly in low-grade trajectors than traditional ballistic missiles. /full text at REL/
