VVA communications:
The Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group submitted to the Constitutional Court the requirement for assessing the constitutionality of the decisions of the president of the Republic of Kosovo for delaying extraordinary elections for the mayor of the Podujevo municipality and the Northern Mitrovica municipality, Isader reports.
After organising Serbia's elections in the country's north, the VV says the reasoning that municipal elections in northern Mitrovica cannot be organised because they endanger public health has declined.
“What's the order? That we have less rights? That the Serb minority is not responsible for our government in public health? Whatever the reason is scandalous and unacceptable”, the VV communiqué says.
The VV says the Constitution of the Republic, as well as international conventions on civil and political rights, guarantee the infallible right to choose and be elected. “Communa is the basic unit of local self-government in the Republic of Kosovo, which enjoys the high degree of local self-government and encourages and ensures the active participation of all citizens in the municipal body decision-making process”, follows.
