Marija Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has estimated that the situation in Kosovo has deteriorated after the EU summit in Tirana, in which the countries of the Western Balkans have participated.
According to her, “The EU with one hand is leading Belgrade towards a beautiful future, while on the other side it is dealing with anti-Serb provocations”.
“Somebody paid attention to the fact that the recent frustration of the situation in Kosovo occurred shortly after the EU held a summit involving the Western Balkan countries in Albania. So what it looked like: December 6th, the European Union holds a summit in Albania. Accepts the Tirana Declaration document, which supports the aspirations of the Western <x1-Balkan “to join the European Union. Furthermore, in a separate paragraph of Tirana's declaration, it is said that separatist Kosovo (as well as Serbia) are on the European road”, Zaharova wrote on her channel Telegram.
She asked if it was strange that less than a week later Pristina authorities launched “approvals north of”, where they arrested Dejan Pantiqi and “started broadcasting aggressive rhetoric”.
Later, in parallel with worsening the situation on the ground, Kosovo applied for EU membership, Zaharova said, broadcasts RIA Novosti.
The political process has begun. The danger of escalation and armed confrontation in the northern part of the region is on the rise. So, instead of European perspective, Kosovo will have a completely different prospect”, Zaharova stressed.
This is treason from the beginning. As a wedding that begins with treason”, Zaharova has ended.
