The disturbing report: More than 200 doctors from Kosovo have left January, 300 are unemployed

Arieta Dragusha, from the Group for the Balkans, said that doctors' flight shows a lack of perspective in the country.

According to this group's report from 2018 to September 2022, 666 certificates of ethics and profession have been issued, a document requested by health institutions in case of employment by doctors and nurses outside Kosovo.

Only from January to September 2022, 183 such certificates have been issued.

According to Dragusha, the worst situation is at the Infermier Oda, according to her, between January and September 2022, there are 586 certificates issued for nurses.

Ifran Krasniqi from the Health Ministry said this year this ministry has increased the health budget.

Naser Gjonbalaj, from the Kosovo Medical Oda, said that more than 200 doctors from Kosovo have left January and that another 300 doctors are unemployed.

Until today there are 215 doctors who have left January to this day. What's disturbing is that 37% more than we produce doctors. On our date, we have about 300 doctors who are unemployed. Unless salary increases and working conditions are taken into account. We're unhappy”, he said.

Naser Rrustemaj, from the Oda of Kosovo Nurses, said the number of health professionals is greater than the figures being submitted.

He called for institutions to take quick steps to raise wages for health professionals and improve working conditions.
