After meetings in Parliament, Council, Commission and Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbor Oliver Warhely met with officials from the European Commission and EEAS, where he briefed them on Kosovo's decision to apply for membership in the European Union.
At the meeting with Jourova, Bislimi said Kosovo has expressed full commitment to European values and standards.
There Bislimi said Kosovo is ready for membership application and further transition to future phases, with full dedication on the long road ahead and on European integration processes. He also cited particular gratitude to the Czech Presidency for continued support of Kosovo.
Jourova expressed admiration for the steps and policies in economic development, and especially in the fight against corruption. The sides also discussed reforms in the judicial system as well as sustainable results in rule of law.
Meanwhile, at the meeting with Eichhorst, Bislimi reiterated that the decision to apply for membership had been announced last year and now is the time to formalise and submit the application.
Our “country has approached its foreign policy in line with the European Union. Following the application for membership in the Council of Europe and steps towards visa liberalisation, the main component to complete this successful year is the application for EU membership”, the Government Community said.
