For years we have supported moving forward and establishing stability in this region and will continue to work towards stability. We had this discussion today with the Albanian government about how we can communicate better on these issues and what additional actions we can take to ensure that stability is established and that the country does not end up in the conflict again”, she said.
Ambassador Thomas-Grenfield said she doesn't think anyone wants to see the conflict again.
“The solution? You know, I think a deal between both sides is an agreement that both sides accept. She needs it. It's still a problem after 23 years. But we have not given up, and neither should they. They must continue to peace because there is no alternative. I don't think any of us want to see them return to the conflict again”, she said.
Albania's ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, also said there would be no solution if there is no agreement between the two sides.
The achievement of such agreements between opponents and given what happened in Kosovo, as we know, is not easy. That's why it's been so long. But something different is happening this time and we have to understand and we need to communicate about it. It is the first time we have not an EU special envoy, but we also have the US special envoy and special foreign policy advisers of French and German governments. So we have four people. We have so much power done together that it never happened before with a concrete proposal on the table. And this is something neither Kosovo nor Serbia should waste. It's a unique moment to push it hard”, Hoxha said.
Ambassador Hoxha said there will be no solution to any of the issues if there is no agreement. And for deals, it takes two pairs.
“I think we can deal with all these technical issues and they have their importance. Nothing, not even the license plates, has that kind of significance, as much as trying to really move forward because it's the only way to move forward.
