Kurti-Vucciq meeting, Qalaj: Find a solution not to have escalation of the situation in the north or south

A day before the start of implementation of the penalty measure for owners of Serbian illegal license plates, Prime Minister Kurti and Serbian President Vucinq are expected to meet in Brussels on Sunday. This meeting comes after the Serb resignations from Kosovo institutions, tensions in the north, as well as international pressure on [the] first [...]
Former Police Director, Rashit Qalaj in a premonition for Periscope He said that a solution should be found in this meeting so that the situation does not become more tense.
“I am very sure that a solution would have to be found in Brussels, I strongly hope that in this last meeting, which will be held these days on Sunday or Monday in Brussels, a solution will be found so that the situation will not be contributed to even more tensions in that part of the country”, he said.
Asked whether there might be tensions again if no agreement is reached between Kurti and Vuciqi in Brussels, Qalaj said it depends on the Serbian president's approach because the Serb community in the north is dependent on him.
“I think that the Serb community there is very dependent on the president of Serbia, and all of this depends on the approach of its Vuciqi and its state-owned device, and if no agreement is reached then Kosovo institutions should start with implementing the plan as it has been, I am talking about the Kosovo Police. Again, if I repeat, it would be very good for the country to manage a solution that would avoid the suspension of the situation there”, Qalaj added.
After Serbian superiors handed over the Kosovo Police uniforms, the former police director estimated that their absence causes major problems, even warning that if a solution is not found in southern municipalities in the country, I can expect a similar situation as in the north.
“Situate gets more complicated in the four municipalities we have there since those policemen from the Albanian community who are there are offering technical security for stations, the lack of police members from the Serbian community causes major problems there even though it has the capacity for Kosovo police to replace those with Albanian police officers from other police stations, but yet I still think that, yes, I do again, that there should be a solution not to come up to the escalation of the situation in the north, or that we will have the same situation in the south of the country of<>, Qalaj concluded.
