We've bet on Pennsylvania residents and you haven't let us down. Neither will I disappoint you”, Democrat Fetterman said shortly after announcing his victory by thanking voters.
The White House has announced that President Joe Biden has sent a message congratulating Fetterman for victory.
“I'm proud that we ran to protect the right of women to choose”, he said, alluding to abortion rights that were at the centre of the campaign in the eastern state, one of some they call “swing” because they sometimes vote for Democrats and sometimes for Republicans, writes Telegrafi.
John Fetterman's advantage melted away in recent weeks and eventually became too narrow to determine an election favourite.
His campaign was marred by a blow that questioned his ability to serve as senator, in particular after an interview in which he used equipment to listen to questions because of hearing problems.
That seat in the Senate was held by a longtime Republican and is crucial to controlling the Supreme Chamber of Congress, and therefore for the remaining two years of Joe Biden's mandate.
