“Another exchange of prisoners has occurred today. We have managed to free 32 of our soldiers and take the body of Israeli citizens, Dmytro Fialka,” said Andriy Yermak, chief of the Ukrainian Presidency Office, through a post on social networks.
He has said all the discharged soldiers were “in the areas of fierce fighting” and some of them were considered missing.
Soldiers are receiving medical training and will then join their families, he said.
However, it has not provided data on how many Russians have been released under the exchange.
Fialka, an Israeli who, according to Yermak, has voluntarily gone to the front line, has been living in Ukraine for the past two years, after meeting “Love” a Ukrainian woman with whom she has children.
He is said to have worked at a children's football club in Lviv before volunteering for military service.
The recent exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia occurred on September 21st, when Ukraine has announced the release of 215 of its soldiers.
Yermak has said that exchange of prisoners has occurred in several phases and various locations.
In that exchange, five Britons and two Americans have been involved in the battlefield.
The war in Ukraine has begun on February 24th.
President Putin calls the war <x0 special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. / REL
