Shasha: There are misunderstandings, I see no conditioning opportunities for Kosovo

Institute Director E PIK, Demush Shaha, said today that news of France's dedication must be taken in wisdom, as it is still not known exactly what has been discussed at today's meeting within the EU Council's visa processing group. He said that tomorrow the discussion will continue, and so will the day after tomorrow, and it is important not to draw conclusions.
“Let's not rush with the release of early conclusions, but expect these discussions to be held and then more precisely understand what their score is”, he said after publishing the news that France, with the support of several other countries, has demanded that the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo be linked to the functioning of the security system in Europe, ETHIAS.
Regarding this system of things, Shasha indicated that this does not seem to be a condition but an obligation.
“TIAS, I can't see any problems. This is not a vow. So every citizen of Kosovo like any other citizen in the world will be obliged to receive permission for travel within the Schengen zone from the ETIAS system. Much the same as it has now begun to apply for US travel E STA. But the system E TIAS will start working from November 2023 and I don't understand exactly what Kosovo has to do with this, since this is the EU system”, Shasha followed.
He added as far as Kosovo's key to system E TIAS is more than enough time from today until November 2023 to make preparations for the interconnection of security systems, when all other countries are expected.
At the closed meeting, held Thursday at the Council of the European Union, it has been proposed that the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo be linked to functionalisation of the security system in Europe, E TIAS. This proposal is believed to have been made by French officials, and supported by at least four other states: Sweden, Belgium, Holland, and Spain.
