The Facebook and Instagram mothership company was banned in Russia, CNN writes.
This ban now requires that banks freeze funds for companies on that list and suspend services in their accounts.
On March 21st, Moscow's Tverscoy District Court recognised Meta as an extremist organisation, claiming that Meta's management allowed Ukrainian users to call for violence against the Russian Army.
The court rejected the American company's complaint. The March court's ruling did not apply to the Whatsapp app, also owned by Meta, as it does not publicly distribute information.
