War crimes, among which sexual violence during the war is a burden that burdens our society. It is a matter that after the war is spoken with a dose of shame, with a dose of despair about what happened in Kosovo. But thanks to our civil society and institutions that began to deal with these cases, sexual violence during the war came out of the dark, but there is still no real statistics on the number of people raped during the war in Kosovo and still before the special prosecution is a major challenge for the discovery, registration and investigation of these crimes”, she said.
She said there are about 900 subjects and about 2 thousand files on the missing.
What made our work difficult, which took a long time, was that after the war, we local prosecutors were not allowed to follow these criminal acts, this job was initially entrusted to them. U n NMIC, then EULEX. They have done very little, unfortunately very little and despite the opportunities they had as two powerful missions for rule of law, in this area a large number of remaining materials remain after the end of the EULEX mission, which are about 900 substances and about 2 thousand files on the missing”, she said.
