Pristina municipality: 5,000 stray dogs will be treated by the end of the year.

By the end of the year, the Pristina municipality aims to deal with 5,000 wandering dogs, following announced periods of public procurement, Pristina Mayor Bajram Gecaj said. Gecaj said that each year 70 thousand euros have been earmarked for treatment of stray dogs. According to him, the treatment [...] was done with this amount.

He said onem euros have now been earmarked for dealing with the problem with wandering dogs. With the last 6 rounds, he said the number of dogs treated would range from 720 to about 5,000 this year. According to him, the treatment process's abuse opportunities are minimal because “will ensure capture, treatment and issuing, and chips will be placed with all information”.
Gizzaj at KTV also talked about a centre for treatment of stray dogs, launched in Hyvali, where he said treatment and temporary maintenance will take place. After the treatment, according to him, dogs are less aggressive, but not completely unaggressive.
Gecaj has appealed for the central level to be dealt with more urgently.
On Monday, a wandering dog had attacked a 4-year-old in a nursery garden in Pristina.
