You have asked me to resign from the post of finance minister. I have admitted,” said Kwartenng in a letter to the Corps, which he published on Twitter.
His departure comes after the media reported that he was fired before a press conference from the Truss, when it is expected to lift part of their economic package in a bid to survive the market and political unrest that have engulfed the country, Reuters writes.
Kwarteng is named the most short-lived minister in the post, writes the BBC.
Kwarteng returned to the United Kingdom for urgent talks with Trus this morning after a meeting with international finance ministers in Washington, DC
