The Millennium Challenge Corporation, whose chief executive is Alice Albright, is one of the biggest investors in the world.
Several million euros from this company have also been invested in Kosovo.
Kosovo and the MCC have launched partnership on September 12th 2017, when then President Hashim Thaci had signed agreements on investing 49m euros in energy efficiency and fighting corruption.
But over the years as the agreement exists, there have also been cracks of reports between the two countries, whether between Kosovo and the MCC. On March 13, 2020, The MCC had suspended economic development programmes in Kosovo due to the failure to lift the 100 per cent fee on Serbia's goods from the then Kosovo government, “Kurti 117x1>.
The value of a programme the MCC suspended in March totaled $50 million.
The government withdrew from the 100 per cent tariff to Serbian goods, but the impasse of funds for Kosovo from the MCC continued further, now due to the deployment of reciprocity measures with Serbia by the then “Kurti 117x1>, which was rejected by the US.
After the collapse of the ruling LV coalition V- The LDK, and the formation of the LDK government with other parties, the reciprocity measure was abolished. Immediately, the MCC had announced 6 June that it had unblocked its funds for Kosovo and that it would resume implementing the country's economic development programmes.
Meanwhile, on July 27, this year, the 236 million agreement has been signed.
Under this agreement, the flexibility of the country's energy network will increase and the cost of energy security will be reduced.
Chief executive of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright, who is now the daughter of the late American Secretariat Madeleine Albright, came to Kosovo on the occasion of completing the five-year threshold programme.
She met with the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca. Meanwhile, today he was in the Ulpiana neighbourhood in Pristina to make the inauguration of renovated soloists exactly from the MCC. There she also met with Pristina Chairman Progress Rama, Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli, as well as the director of the Milenium Foundation in Kosovo (MFK), Petrit Selimi.
After that, she also visited the Year, where she was honoured with the title “city key”, by the mayor of this municipality, Sokol Haliti.
