Lack of recognition, experts say Kosovo diplomacy has failed

The year 2022 is considered one of the years with no recognition of the state of Kosovo. And this is also being seen as a deadlock in the work of Kosovo diplomacy, as a result of which new recognitions are not being obtained from countries that have not yet done so, reports Online Economy. Recognitions of these processes, say of Online Economy, that Kosovo institutions have failed in this respect.
Special emphasis, however, is also given to the nonrecognition of five European Union states.
Speaking on this issue, university professor Dorajet Imer says the five non-recognising states linked Kosovo's recognition as a state to the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
Although he says he has commitments in this regard, Imer says it has not yet resulted in any recognition.
The recognition process is extremely complex and very important that states take into a political entity that has just been declared state. The Kosovo situation is very sensitive, the disaster is that the process of recognition to some extent is linked to the Kosovo-Serbia negotiation process. Most European Union states that do not recognise Kosovo have already stated that we will not recognise Kosovo's independence, without any agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, so this is the disaster our country is facing, he said.
Imer says that during these years, Kosovo faced a tough campaign by Serbian diplomacy, which repeatedly lobbied for attracting Kosovo state recognitions.
But there are states that have written the document which says we recognise the independence of Kosovo, it is also true. What I mean is that some states have declassified such a thing that means they have acted in a set of forms a major political push that has developed Serbian diplomacy that has not left all actions untainted, including through corruption and blackmail”, he said.
That non-recognition by the five EU member states is damaging Kosovo to ensuring new recognitions, European integration professor Avni Mazrek says.
Even, according to him, Kosovo has not yet understood its strategic interest.
“I think it is because Kosovo has not realised that Kosovo's strategic interest is the focus on reaching these five recognitions, and Kosovo very little activity in the function of convincing these five states to recognise Kosovo, as we do not see Kosovo's foreign policy activities in the function of achieving this goal because it is a strategic goal for Kosovo, then we can conclude that Kosovo has not correctly understood what is its strategic interest”, Mazrekre said.
Mazreku has said that in various stages, Kosovo has been able to better exploit the security of new recognitions.
He also mentions the help that Germany, Greece, has given.
Kosovo has had many moments when it could take advantage of these moments, one of the very important moments when it had to be used by the influential power of Germany and France has been the global financial crisis, when Germany loans Greece's entire economic and financial system, and one of the easy conditions for Greece should be to recognise Kosovo, because the EU is Greece's only savior. In this case, Greece's recognition will also bring recognition of Cyprus”, he said. / EO
