Kiev was hit by so-called fears “kamikacaze” on Monday, issued by Russia, but is believed to be produced by Iran.
The US agrees with the French and British assessment that the fears violate UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the US State Department said.
This resolution, linked to Iran's nuclear agreement, prohibits Iranian transfers of some military technologies.
Ukraine has identified the drones either aircraft without pilots (UAV) as Iranian weapons Shahed-136. They are called suicide missions in World War II.
“We believe that these USVs that were transferred from Iran to Russia and used by Russia to Ukraine are among the weapons that will remain an embargo under 223118x1>, State Department's Vedant Patel said.
Iran has denied providing Russia with these fears, but Patel said the US “publicly maintained that Russia is afraid of Iran, that it was part of Russia's plan to import hundreds of USAV Iranians of various types”.
He added that there were “broad tests of their use from Russia to Ukraine.
