Havenier: We're worried about deadlines, we hope to extend.

United States Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier in an interview RTV KIM has said the United States of America thinks the deadline for car registration in RKS plates by Serbs should be extended. He has indicated that the US are not opposed to this decision and see it as [...]
He has indicated that the US are not opposed to this decision and see it as reasonable and in line with Brussels' agreements, but on the other hand has expressed pro-term extension, the news says.net.
Havenier has said that the United States thinks there must be more time, because this is exhausting and difficult.
It is clear that there has been little demand to do so (re-registering vehicles) so far. The United States government believes that the Kosovo Government's decision to allow people living in Kosovo to run vehicles that are registered in Kosovo and that the establishment of Kosovo's license plates is not an unreasonable requirement and that this decision is in accordance with the Brussels accords, but we have expressed our concerns from the beginning and continue to express for the implementation deadline.”, Havener said.
He has in the end indicated that he does not know whether the extension of the deadline will occur and that this is in the hands of the government, but that this has been a concern and a US message.
My “message to the Kosovo government was that we believe it will take more time, that we are not enthusiastic for the short term, because it is difficult for people and is tiring. We hope there's a delay. This was part of our conversation, I cannot say whether it will happen or not, because it is asked what will happen, but is the decision of the Kosovo government”, he said.
Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that only a small number of Serbs have turned the plates into the RKS and that the legal deadline to do so is not convincing Serbs.
