Durres-Pristina railway line opens tender for feasibility study

Durres and Pristina will be linked to a railway line. At least that's the goal of a study Albania Railway has requested through a procurement procedure that has been contained in “STU PHYSIBYBITITE AND PROJECT- IDE FOR THE JOURUCH LIVING DEURRES- PRISTINA” opened on the Public Procurement Agency system this Friday. Limit funding for study [...]
The construction of the railway line (Pristina Framework) is of particular importance to Albania and Kosovo, as it will enable a rapid development of railway transport of travellers and goods. This new railway line will first meet the needs of Albania and Kosovo, as well as the needs of Western Balkan countries and beyond, including Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and other countries that are also linked to the Hekurudor X Corridor (December) and the Hekurudor Corridor. IV (four)” says in terms of reference for the announced procedure.
The same document gives three reasons why this line is of particular importance. The previous “E is that through this line of exchange of goods transport between Albania, Kosovo and the wider region will be significantly increased due to lower costs and larger capacities; the second is related to the development of passenger railway transport, which will be very attractive and favourable for both countries and wider; while the third is that this railway line offers the best and most favourable alternative for the shortest connection of Albania's railway network, respectively, the railway corridor. V III (th) with the X (ten) railway corridor” says in the document.
The expected length of the study is 14 months, of which 2 (two) months for the Fillerza and 12 (dwelfteen) months for the preparation of the study.
During this time, several ideas and options have been developed for building the new railway line that will connect Albania with Kosovo. Based on technical discussions on the concept of design, the working group has decided to consider at least 2 (two) existing alternatives to the preparation of the Financial and Project Study for building this railway line
Alternatives to Railways
Alternative 1: Construction of the railway line (Mjede ) Borders at Qafe Morina é Kramovik).
- Albanian route part
The railway link between Albania and Kosovo has been conceived as a very difficult line, because it crosses a mountainous terrain. Total length from Mjeda to the border with Kosovo is about 107km. The maximum design speed is projected to be 100 km/h.
The line is initiated by the existing Mjeda station (in the Vau Together of the Sea and is part of the Vorea Han rail line called KM 0+000 for the cloud line. Next, the new line enters the Gidri River area, passing through an acceptable altitude for the railway. Starting from KM 24+000 to KM 40+000, the line runs into two consecutive tunnels due to the difficult terrain to the Reps area, near the Kalimash Highway. After that, the line crosses the highway by entering a tunnel from the Bissak area (Rashen) to the Drind Valley of Black, with a length of 11.5km. At KM 81+000,
The railway line runs by bridge over the artificial lake of Fierza hydropower plant, and at KM 93+000 lines reaches the Kukes railway station. As the final point, this line reaches Morine, the Albanian border checkpoint Kosovo.
- The preliminary geometry and technical data of this line are as follows:
- The length of the railway line from the Mjeda station, Morina, is about 107km;
- The total length of the tunnels is about 29.5km;
- The projected maximum tilt is 18 o'clock;
- The minimum turning rate is 500 meters.
- The projected speed of the train movement is 100 km/h, V= 4.62) R
Although the construction of the railway line is technically feasible, it is clear that the cost of the project will be high, due to the difficulties presented on the route to tunnels and intersections with public urban and interurban roads.
The route in Kosovo's part
The line starts from PK 18+733 (the Kramovik railway station of the Kline ão Prizren) to the town of Gjakova. The line enters the Drin River Valley, crossing the river through a bridge that is approximately 140m long. After crossing the river, the drain passes through the scarpaten (cut and filling) of the valley to pass the natural barrier through a five - mile [1,475 m] long tunnel. After leaving the tunnel, the railway transport takes the lead towards Gjakova, reaching the northern side of the city. From KM 7+000 to KM 8+500, the line follows the flow of water and passes near the village of Bec and near Gjakova Airport to continue next towards the village of Derim and the industrial area of the town of Gjakova.
The railway station with at least four lines will be built in Gjakova. From Gjakova the railway transmission will follow the existing R-1-09M route 9-1 to the village of Ponosec, to follow parallel with M 9-1 to the border with Albania in Qafe Morina. The total length of the route from the Kramovik station to the Safe Morina border is estimated at about 30km.
Alternative 2: Construction of the railway line (Milot ʹborder on Vramica '% Landovica)
- Albanian Itinarari part
Since 1999, the railway link between Albania and Kosovo has been conceived through Milotti's scurrying line to the town of Pentecost and the extension further towards the mouth of Little Fan. In 2005, as Milot's station from Mousto, heading toward Rubik's station, the construction of the Milot Nt Street Highway began. The Albanian section of the line, along with the Milot Rreshen section, covers a length of about 108km. The section has a nearly 11.5km-long tunnel that enters the Bisak area and exits the Black Drini area near Skavica.
- Kosovar part of route
The line will be separated by railway line Kline Prizren at KM 52+,200. From this point of division, the transmission continues in Prizren's Arbana suburb, continuing along the national highway ébrahim Rugova (E 85). Then, the line passes near the villages of Grzhdasnik and Vlasnja in the direction of the village of Vremica and the border point with Albania. The total length of the route from the divide point of Linea Kline Prizren to the border in Vermica is estimated at about 17km.
The consultant would cancel both options mentioned above. After detailed tests and
Estimates of these options, they will offer the final recommendation of this project for the best and most favourable version.
Alternative 3: Will be determined by the consultant himself
This alternative remains to be analysed and selected by the Consultant himself, according to visits to the ground and estimates conducted and the client will be proposed as such
