China could begin Taiwan invasion by the end of this year, US says

The forecast that China will conquer Taiwan by 2027 coincides with Chinese President Xi Jinping's promise to bring China to the forefront of global power by 2027.

But, Gilday said that after monitoring continuing events like Russia's war on Ukraine and rapid Chinese military progress, a conflict with Beijing over Taiwan could happen anytime.

In preparation for such a thing, Gilday said that the American Navy now has our “goals in preparing itself for a possible fight”.

China considers Taiwan a breakaway province, and Xi has said his country's top priority is “reunification” with the island. Taiwan self-government, however, claims independence.

However, senior American leaders including President Joe Biden have said Washington would come to the defense of Taiwan if China began a military invasion.

This war can be challenging considering the current US Navy ship of about 292 ships compared to more than 350 of China. A Heritage Foundation report said the US should increase its fleet to more than 400 ships to compete with China, reports the NY Post, broadcast Klakosova.tv.
