US President Joe Biden has promised his Ukrainian counterpart Voldymyr Zelensky that the United States will offer the country advanced air systems after Russia launched missiles against numerous cities in Ukraine, including the capital Kiev.
Beden made that promise in a call with Zelensky ahead of an emergency meeting of the Seventh Group to discuss support for Ukraine and the way to keep Russia “accountable for the attacks, which killed at least 14 people, Aljazeera writes.
“President Biden pledged to continue providing Ukraine with the support needed to protect, including advanced air defence systems”, the White House statement said.
Beden also told Zelensky that the US and its allies and partners will continue to impose costs on Russia, “holding Russia responsible for its war crimes and its atrocities, and offering Ukraine security, economic and humanitarian assistance”, the White House said.
