At least 11 people were killed and 15 others were injured on a military training ground in Russia's Belgorod region. Two attackers opened fire on a group of volunteers, the Russian Defence Ministry said on October 15th.
The ministry said in a statement that the shooting occurred as volunteers were being trained to fight in Ukraine, calling the incident a terrorist attack.
The statement reportedly during a training session for firearms “with individuals who voluntarily expressed a desire to participate in the special military operation (against Ukraine), terrorists opened small arms fire on unit personnel”.
They said the two volunteers who shot at the other soldiers were shot dead by the opposite side.
It is still unclear whether their deaths are included among the 11 confirmed dead. Both were citizens of a former Soviet republic, the ministry said, but did not elaborate.
Russia has begun the invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, and in September Putin announced a re-environment of “military to strengthen the ranks in Ukraine, at the time when Kiev forces are reporting for retaking control of several territories occupied by Russian forces.
He calls the war <x0 special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions. /rel
