Kurti has written on Twitter that Sassol was a friend of Kosovo and a man who brought European bees to EU institutions.
“We are saddened by the news of the death of David Susssol, president of the European Parliament, friend of Kosovo, and a man who truly brought European values to EU institutions. We're going to miss you”, Kurt wrote.
Sassol has died as a result of a serious illness.
The news was made known by his spokesman through a tweet.
President Susssol changed his life at 1:15 a.m. on January 11th at the Aviano Hospital in Italy. The date and location of the funeral will be communicated in the coming hours”, he wrote.
65-year-old Susssol had been hospitalised since 26 December, due to a serious complications caused by the failure of the immune system.
Sassol, an Italian centre-left politician, was also treated at a French pneumonia hospital in September.
Sassol was elected president of the European Parliament in 2019. His mandate would end this month and was not expected to seek a second.
Because of the illness, he was unable to lead the Strasbourg-based parliament in recent weeks and missed the European Commission's annual event for the union situation in September.
