Allison Fluke-Echren, a mother who once lived in Kansas, U.S.A., allegedly trained women and children to use AK-47 rifles and suicide vests in Syria.
It also allegedly recruited operatives for a possible future attack on a US college campus.
Fluke-Ekren could face 20 years in prison if convicted, the BBC writes.
Details of the complaint were issued in an FBI statement from 2019, which was released Saturday after Fluke-Ekren returned to the US to face charges.
It says that in 2016 a battalion of I SIS made up of women, known as Khatiba Nusayabah, was founded in Raqqa, Syria. At the time, the city was the de facto capital of the Islamic State group.
It is said that the battalion consisted of only female members of the “Islamic State” who had married male warriors of this group.
Fluke-Ekren allegedly became the leader and organiser of the group shortly after joining him. Her primary role, it is said, was to teach women how to defend themselves against the enemies of the organ.
She is also accused of teaching children to use offensive weapons, and in the FBI statement, a witness was quoted as saying that one of Fluke-Ekren's boys was seen carrying an automatic. At the time, he was 5 or 6.
She also allegedly told a witness to carry out an attack on a shopping mall using explosives and mentioned that it would be a source loss if it did not kill many people.
