PDK: Agreement reached in Brussels represents regrass for Kosovo, strengthens Serbia's position more

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has expressed concern that the agreement reached by the Kosovo Government in Brussels, as reported in the media, constitutes a regrass for Kosovo and strengthens Serbia's position more. The Democratic Party of Kosovo emphasises that it has backed the Government's decision to place reciprocity on the license plates, but its withdrawal from this decision so quickly and thus is discouraging and extremely disturbing for future developments.
The removal of Kosovo Police Special Forces and the return of KFOR by taking over public order and border control duties belonging to police, constitutes a setback for our independent state institutions and undermines the constitutional role of the Kosovo Police. This development represents a stain on Kosovo's international image as an independent and sovereign consolidated state.”, said the party's response.
According to the PDK, accepting a synchronized withdrawal of the Kosovo Police and barricades who have acted contrary to the law, the current de facto government has considered them equal, thus mistaking the dignity of our state security authorities.
“also, it should be clarified that, unlike the government's disinformative statements for the establishment of reciprocity, the acceptance of coverage of specific parts of the license plates has confirmed the already reached in Brussels in 2016.
It's a “Technical Agreement on the freedom of movement” of 2011, finalised in Brussels on September 14, 2016, which was then sharply opposed by the Vetevendosje Movement.
Therefore, the government of Kosovo should explain why it caused all this escalating tension in the north, violating co-operation with international partners and portraying Kosovo in international opinion as a hearth of unrest only to return to an agreed issue 5 years ago.” is further said in the PDK's response.
The PDK estimates that the one that makes this agreement even more problematic is the issue of accepting illegal KM plates and similar on the part of the Kosovo government.
“This fact constitutes a surrender of sovereignty and the reward of Serbia's efforts to deny the citizenship and sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo through issuing Serbian illegal license plates for the territory of our state. We welcome the efforts of our international partners, who, despite initially being ignored by the Government of Kosovo, still found us close by helping with the de-excellation of the tense situation in the north. At the same time, we demand that the details of this agreement be made public as soon as possible and clear up all the circumstances under which a dangerous operation has been undertaken in the north that has resulted in a multi-progress of the position of the Republic of Kosovo.”, suggests the reaction of the Republic of Kosovo. PDK.
