Krasniqi: Government to take steps to ensure the lives of police officers, EU, US and NATO react

Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has called on international partners to react against Serbia's actions in northern Kosovo.

Krasniqi, by means of a post at é Facebook, has also asked Kosovo institutions to offer protection to the Kosovo Police, who are standing at the Jarinje and Brnjak border points for the sixth day in a row.

“At the same time, the blocking actions and the inflammatory and conflicting language of Serbia towards the state and our sovereignty should be dealt with seriously. I appeal to the European Union, the United States of America, NATO and our strategic partners, to react urgently to this approach, which constitutes open threats to our state sovereignty and our constitutional order”, he has declared.

“Sulmet to our institutions, as happened in the last 24 hours, accompanied by Serbia's air attackes along the border, should not be allowed to be the presumption of further deterioration of the situation. The government must take measures to ensure the lives of Kosovo Police members as well as all citizens on that side, indiscriminately”, it has added further.

Krasniqi has reacted in a line with leaders of other opposition subjects who called for the international factor's response to the situation in northern Kosovo.

With my mind and heart, I am with police officers from the Republic of Kosovo who, in no easy and disturbing situation for their security, for the sixth day in a row are staying at the helm of the post, at the border points in Brnjak and Jarinje.

In the responsibility of governance, it is always good for important decisions to have stable coordinates and strategies. But the legitimate decisions of Kosovo institutions are sovereign decisions of the state of Kosovo, which cannot be blocked, and on which we cannot build a threat to our state.

The attacks on our institutions, as happened in the last 24 hours, accompanied by Serbia's airworks along the border, should not be allowed to be presumption of further deterioration of the situation. The government must take measures to ensure the lives of Kosovo Police members as well as all citizens on that side indiscriminately.

At the same time, Serbia's blocking actions and inflammatory and conflicting language towards our state and sovereignty should be dealt with seriously. I appeal to the European Union, the United States of America, NATO and our strategic partners, to react urgently to this approach, which constitutes an open threat to our state sovereignty and our constitutional order.

The state of Kosovo is the product of the will for freedom. The road to life in the state has been long and hard, resulting in permanent and irreversible. His responsibility is national responsibility, not just political. We expect and are willing to support an approach reflecting state responsibility for managing the situation.
