This medium reported finding a statement about the police, which is no evidence in the procedure, where driver D. L. (52 years of age) he had never said that he had been asleep, but he had claimed that something had disturbed him during the ride, after which the bus emerged fatally from the highway, the Express broadcasts.
Only after Tahography has been read will it be possible to determine whether the bus driver of tragedy was in accordance with all the rules of his work.
However, a witness who was questioned at Slavonski Brod on Tuesday during emergency investigations said in her testimony that the two drivers had been driving the Frankfurt-Pristina line for at least 15 years.
District Court investigating judge Slavonski Brod on Tuesday morning ordered a month-long detention for bus driver Deva Tours.
The case was taken by District State Prosecutor Slavonski Brod, who proposed that the detention measure be appointed to the driver because of the danger of escape, with the intent that he is a foreign citizen, which the judge accepted. The driver's protection was later appointed with Zagreb lawyers Igor Cisper and Ljubo Pavasovic Viskovic, who reportedly were employed by the driver's family.
Croatian prosecutors have so far concluded that this was a qualified form of serious traffic accident, for which the driver could face prison sentences of up to 15 years.
Although the information came out that the driver had admitted at one point that he had fallen asleep during the drive, his lawyer, Cisper, denied on Tuesday, saying his client had never told anyone he had slept. The driver was quietly protected when he was first questioned by the police and later before the State Attorney, not wanting to say anything.
The driver, as always in such cases, has been bleeding, and preliminary examinations did not determine the presence of alcohol or drugs. Also, so far there are no indicators that someone other than the driver could be suspected of causing one of the worst traffic accidents that has occurred in Croatia.
Most passengers, meanwhile, were asleep at the time of the accident, about 6:00, so they mostly remember the moment of impact and know nothing about circumstances that preceded tragedy. Some who went through this accident without apparent physical consequences witnessed in court.
Deputy District Attorney of Slavonski Brod, Franjo Korunia, announced in a press statement that as part of the accident investigation, an expertise of the bus will be ordered to see if there has been any damage. How exactly the accident happened is not known right now.
