Two of them ran away, while others were beaten and threatened with guns. A Taliban leader announced that they are still discussing the new “clothing code” for men, while the incident with young people has sparked concern over the return of the same situation as the 1990s, when it was normal for Afghan males who were caught without religious clothing to be beaten and sometimes even killed.
The Taliban were known during the previous regime for religious extremism and extreme punishments. But how many have really changed this time, as they claim, this remains to be seen, reports the TCH.
