The American Embassy in Pristina has written that Kosovo joins the US in calling for all sides to respect the safe departure of foreign and Afghan citizens.
Kosovo joins the United States and other countries in calling: “all sides respect and facilitate, the safe and fair departure of foreign citizens and Afghans who want to leave the country”, it is written in the US Embassy's post in Pristina.
The US State Department through a joint statement with several other states, including here and Kosovo, has called for work to be made to remove Afghans.
“Afgans and foreign citizens who want to leave should be allowed to do so; roads, airports and border crossings must stay open and calm must be preserved. Afghan people deserve to live in security and dignity. We in the international community are ready to help them”, this statement says.
The American Embassy in Kosovo has confirmed yesterday that it is in talks with the Government of Kosovo to house American partners who operate in Afghanistan, who are at risk because of taking over many parts of the country from the Taliban.
“We can confirm that the American government is in discussions with the Kosovo government about how Kosovo can help American partners in Afghanistan. We don't have any more details to give, for now. For additional details, we will inform you in time”, said the embassy response.
