Ursula von Der Leeyen promises support for Kosovo on its European road

Von der Leyen in a letter of congratulations sent to Prime Minister Albin Kurti for taking office, has said he will continue to support the progress achieved in reforms in Kosovo so that the latter can advance as quickly as possible on its European path.

“Recognising the importance it has for Kosovo citizens, we will continue to contribute to a positive EU decision on visa liberalisation. The EU also stands alongside Kosovo and its people in the fight against pandemic and support of economic recovery even through the Plan for Economics and Investments for Western Balkan countries, adopted in October 2020”, said von der Leyen.

The European Commission president has said she welcomes Prime Minister Kurti's pledge to engage constructively in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, relieved by the EU.

She has said it is essential that the next high-level dialogue meeting be held as soon as possible. This, according to her, is essential for progress on the respective European path of Kosovo and Serbia and your citizens.
