Rama clashs with CNN journalist: Most Albanians Love project in Zvrinec

Prime Minister Edi Rama was today, June 18th, part of the panel at the World Initiative Investment Forum (FII) in Rome, led by journalist Eleni Giokos, CNN's presentation and correspondent.

We want to marry Europe”, Rama said as he spoke of the importance of EU integration, naming uniting 27 states as the best project ever created by humanity.

Europe's <x0-Flas as a very obedient European, because I think the European Union is mankind's most wonderful, most amazing and bold imagination when it comes to politics. It's a wonderful project, the most wonderful political project ever created by mankind, and the potential is absolutely extraordinary.

Of course there are problems in Europe, but I always say we're in love with Europe. So I'm sure a lot of people here know, that when you fall in love, everybody says “don't hurry to get married because we know what” is. But that doesn't stop you from getting married. You're going to get married and we want to be married to “with Europe because it's the right place to be. How things will unfold then, is another story, but we love this marriage, we're obsessed with it. We will achieve whatever it is and sooner than later”, Rama said.

However, a criticism of Europe that the chief of the Albanian government has said again cited today.

“Europe is losing at the same time what others are doing with great strides. When it comes to Europe, everything is seen very clearly, what is missing, what Europe has accomplished. But there is one thing that is the number one problem, that Europe is failing to deal with; this is politics, a common vision. The ability to make joint decisions”, Rama said.

A moment of tension arose when Prime Minister Rama was asked by the journalist for protests in Tirana and the planned investment for Zvrinec, what was and what was initiated by gatherings. Rama again stressed that there is not yet an approved project and that an assessment of environmental impact is currently under way.

Listen, don't go in there, because now it reminds me you're from CNN and I'm sorry to say it, but I've learned in the hard way that you're not an objective source. But the fact that you're Greek makes me feel compelled not to go there. Yes, land was purchased by investors. Yeah, it's private land. Yes, an assessment of environmental impact is developing. Yes, no project has yet been adopted. Yes, no construction permits have yet been granted. Yes, there is nothing that should disturb any environmentalist who thinks towards”, Rama said.

Meanwhile, journalist Giokos continued with her question, focusing on warnings coming from the European Union Commission for observing environmental rules. Rama responded by saying that most of the Albanian people love the project in Zvrinec and that nature would not be affected, rather.

Part of the debate:

Rama: I have news for you. Most of the Albanian people love the project. The city where the project will be held is, in a very large majority, awaiting it and there are no protests. The community where the project will be held wants the project. So what you see is not exactly what's happening. Anger exists, I understand, but when it fades, and when you send a very special invitation to come to the inauguration, everyone will be happy. And I'm sure it'll be a great opportunity for CNN to be rehabilitated. ”

Journal: To rehabilitate?

Rama: To rehabilitate. You need rehabilitation. You need rehabilitation against Albania, the Albanian people and even the birds. You know, you need a moment of rehabilitation, because birds, waters, trees and everything else will be much better than they are today. The project aims to create 25% more green surfaces than it currently exists. Today, the lagoon waters are polluted and we will have a completely new system to clean them up again. As you say in the United States: we make the waters clean again, not make America big again.

Journal: All right!

Rama: It has been provoked primarily because Kouchner and Trump, the shadow behind them, are enough to cause many people from different lands and continents to react immediately. But the amount of deninforms, fake videos, videos taken from protests in other countries and presented as protests in Albania, the amount of bots that have entered from our enemy... We have an enemy, the only enemy is the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they have been conducting a ruthless cyberattack against Albania and have been involved in the issue.

This amount of madness is eroded by our democracies on the inside and is leading European space in the direction that, sooner than recently, will completely destroy the sense of politics, decision-making and compromise in this part of the world. So it is time for democracies to no longer believe that the freedom of information is an extension of freedom of expression. Freedom to expand information is what every regime, through propaganda, has used to introduce lies into every mind.

The planned investment for Zvrinec has sparked protests in Albania for 18 days. In addition to the opposition to building in the protected area, citizens have already begun and revealed disappointments by government. Rama and earlier, has presented facts about investment, from the procedures followed for purchasing and selling property to investors to environmental research currently under way in the area. The protests, Rama has been described as being promoted by the propaganda of other states, which have no interest in growing Albania in tourism./ Periscope.
