The top Kosovo, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina leaders will go to Albania at the summit, which is held at the Palace of Brigades. The summit will be conducted by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhely.
This Samit is very important as it comes only two weeks before the expected decision in Brussels to launch negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia. Leaders of six Western Balkan states Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will discuss projects in the region under the Berlin Process.
Significant agreements in the economic sector are expected to be signed on this summit, such as that of Albania with Northern Macedonia for facilitating the transition of goods or trade at all customs crossing points and especially in Qafe-Thana. At this meeting, Albania is expected to request from the EU the mutual recognition of the green vaccination certificate. Also, accelerating procedures for lowering roting tariffs between Western Balkan countries and the EU and facilitating trade and transport procedures with Union border member states.
Last year, the meeting of 6 Western Balkan leaders took place online on November 10th and was recognised as the Sofia Summit. At this summit the countries of the Western Balkans agreed to strengthen their relations and agreed to create common regional markets, as well as adopt green policies. /papsy. al
