Kurt for American report: Our positions for Uyman are the same, is Kosovo's artificial lake from Kosovo

Prime Minister Albin Kurti at a media conference after the government's first 100-day meeting has also commented on the US Energy Department's report on Weyman Lake.

Kurti said their positions remain the same, Lake Weman is Kosovo Lake from Kosovo.

Our stances regarding Weeman Lake are the same, of course, analysis and research can be done, but our task says we should consider Lake Weman, as it is, Kosovo's artical lake from Kosovo. I will, of course, take all the arguments which may even be additional to our same attitude”, he said.

He also spoke of the Washington Agreement, which he said had only one valid point of it, which is the last point where Kosovo and Israel know each other.

As far as the Washington Agreement is concerned, from the beginning I have said its most valuable point is the last point that has already been realised, but we can't speak as if Sʹka happens on February 14th or March 22nd, there are people who live in the past but I don't believe they belong to the future in this sense change in Kosovo is huge, we are representatives of this change which the people of Kosovo have made<x>, said when before journalists.

The United States handed over to the Government of Kosovo and the Government of Serbia the feasibility study of Lake Weyman, which was part of the September 4, 2020, agreement that was signed at the White House in the presence of then US President Donald Trump.

In announcing the American Embassy in Kosovo, the American Energy Department report reportedly proposes forming a commission or committee for the Iber River, which is located in the northern part of Kosovo that would help discuss the two sides on the possibilities of managing water resources. Weiman Lake is an artificial lake built on the bed of the Iber River in northern Kosovo.

“We propose that Kosovo and Serbia take into consideration technical arrangements from the treaty between the US and Canada for the Columbia River regarding water supply, energy agencies and flood control by shaping institutional needs to support such a commission even for the Iber” River, the document says.

It further points out that Wyman's “system appears to play an equal role of dam in the Columbia River in the North-Western Pacific in the United States as far as its contribution to conservation services for seasonal water supply, energy and flood control services”. The Columbia River Treaty was reached in 1961 between Canada and the United States. Four dams were built under this agreement - three in Canada and one in the state of Montana, U.S.A.
