On May 31st in Switzerland, the parliamentary summer session began, where MPs will debate various issues of importance to this state, including reform of the social security system and taxes.
But MPs will also assess another crucial issue: the financing of cow horns.
A senator is asking the Federal Council to change the direct payment warrant to provide a necessary “contribution” for the maintenance of horns.
The motion is backed by a number of deputies at the Council of States, the upper House of Parliament, writes Swiss media.
This is not a new issue in Switzerland: In 2018, Swiss voters rejected the initiative that required subsidies for the farmers involved.
