Salih Ahmeti said that recently in Kosovo, as in Europe, infections with COVID-19 have dropped significantly, but the showing of new variants, such as the African version, is always possible.
Even in European countries but also in us, there was a very rapid and pronounced drop in cases with COVIID-19 and a more visible and stable situation in terms of severe forms of the disease, but also those who have proved positive in daily cases. Today the African version has resulted in samples from a patient. These options are possible, expected. This is the first case with the African variant”, Ahmeti said.
Ahmeti said the patient from Kosovo has not had a trip abroad, and for that, relevant institutions in Kosovo will do the necessary research on the patient's close contacts with the African variant.
“is a Kosovo patient who has not had trips abroad and today is being traced in close contact cases to provide clearer explanations about the possibility of getting infection. I think we are a very close country with other countries, and since the African variant in European countries makes the presence of this case in Kosovo not surprising”, the infected doctor said.
Salih Ahmeti said that according to information thus far, the African variant does not represent any significant changes in the clinical sense. This version provides clinical manifestations similar to the original or British version that have been present in Kosovo.
Hospitalised patient, according to Ahmeti, has symptoms similar to patients infected with the original version, he is in stable health condition, but his clinical framework is a little heavy.
And the patient we've received is an ordinary patient. As in the forms of the original version, clinical manifestations can be from the easiest to the worst. The patient has a severe clinical framework, but he's very stable. We are doing our best to improve”, Mr. said. Ahmeti.
