A day after the arrival of 4680 Pfizer vaccines, Kosovo has been visited by European Union for Neighborship and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhely.
He's been standing in the “1 October” room to look closely at the process of restoring anti-mocation. CO VID-19, with which cʹrast announced that another Pfizer vaccine shipment will come in June. While Prime Minister Albin Kurti said they will not stop until 60 per cent of the population's vaccine target is achieved.
At a joint media conference, Commissioner Varhely said they would work with Prime Minister Kurti to secure as many vaccines as possible, as according to him only in this way ends the COVID-19 pandemic. From EU donations, he said Kosovo would accept about 100,000 Pfizer vaccines.
The “is an extraordinary day for the Western Balkans and wonderful for Kosovo. I hope you feel the same way. It's been a heavy job taking vaccines, but here they are. We are bringing six hundred and one thousand vaccines to the Western Balkans, Kosovo will accept nearly 100,000 vaccines from Pfizer, the most trusted partner in this pandemic war. In this contribution the entire Kosovo health sector could be vaccinated with the first supplies, and those due in June would be vaccinated by all medical staff and they would have resistance to the virus. I think this is the most important contribution we make to help start ending the pandemic, since the pandemic will end only after we've all been vaccinated. And this is just the first supply, we will continue to work with the prime minister to provide more vaccines so that all can be vaccinated... This for us means that we care about the Western Balkans and that within it we care about Kosovo”, he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kurti said they intend to vaccinate all endangered groups before the summer season.
“Only being together can we win the fight against COVID-19, this is teaching from the pandemic and our way in all of this campaign. Today we are restarting the vaccine process in order not to stop and continue until we reach our target for vaccinating 60% of the population. We aim to vaccinate endangered groups before the summer season and avoid the rest as planned. The government is working without stopping to increase the supply of vaccines and we are on the right track in fulfilling that goal. We are convinced that, in co-operation with other EU countries, we will be able to continue taking advantage of this package aid mechanism through further agreements”, Kurti said.
Today's visit to Kosovo by Commissioner Varhely is within the framework of his several-day stay in Western Balkan countries.
