FC Sokol Saratov, a club that in the early 2000s threatened the Russian Premier League, is located in the town of Saratov, 850km south of Moscow.
While Sakhalin is an island in the Pacific Ocean, it is located north of Japan, over 500 miles [8,500 km] from Saratov.
The meeting took place under difficult atmospheric conditions even though we are in May.
