From the IKSHPK, they have said that even this year the subject for the non-smoking World Day is “default to quit smoking”
I vow to quit smoking every year on May 31st World Health Organization and global partners organise World Day without Duhan. The purpose of this day's note is to raise people's awareness of risks to tobacco consumption. This day was announced for the first time in 1987 by member states of the World Health Organization”, says IKSHPK's writing.
The same have indicated that smokers are more likely to become more serious with COVID-19 compared to non-smoking.
“Dufanpiers are more likely to get more serious with COVID-19 compared to non-smoking. This has influenced millions of smokers to pledge to quit smoking globally, approximately 39% of men, and 9% of women are smokers. The highest smoking rates are currently found in Europe, at the 26% level, while projections show a drop of only 2% by 2025 if governments do not take urgent action. By ensuring that the whole society, particularly vulnerable persons, has access to smoking services, increases the chances of success, and ensures progress towards a future without smoking. Smoking is the leading cause of premature illness and death, the second cause of death in the world. Each year around the world, about 8 million people die as a result of smoking, the number based on the current trend, is expected to double over the next 20 years. Every 6.5 seconds in the world dies one person from the damage tobacco smoke does to”, it says in their announcement.
